Technical Debt

Technical debt represents all the things that need to be redone later due to poor choices or necessary tradeoffs made today.

It should be noted that the cost of tech debt is very real. It manifests in the form of engineering costs to address the problem, opportunity costs of fixing it versus working on new features, and business costs such as lost revenue from frustrated customers.
